Wow, it’s been a long time since the last time. I’m resuming my travelogue of Russia, my last overseas trip last year. As for where I’ve been, I was saying that I’ve just finished sightseeing on the first day.

The day’s sightseeing starts with a church with a very disturbing name, the Church of the Saviour on the Blood, and this church which can be said to be very Russian. The weather is cloudy. It’s even colder than yesterday.
From my hotel, I took the subway line 2 to « Gostiny Dvor » and walked from there.
Is this place like a shopping mall in St. Petersburg? It’s the center of the commercial area.
The Church of the Saviour on the Blood is about 5 minutes walk from here. On the way, we passed Pushkin Square and Mussorgsky Theater. There is also the Russian Museum in this area, but we are planning to visit it on the last day, tomorrow.
The big building in front of this picture is the Russian Museum.
The Church of the Saviour on the Blood is right behind this Russian museum. It won’t take more than a couple of minutes to walk there.
It’s very Russian, or maybe it’s just that I immediately thought of « Tetris » ^^.
I’ll make use of a telephoto lens for nothing.
This one looks like the back side, so I’m going to go around it.

Apparently, the church was not open that day. Maybe it was just too early in the morning? In any case, we couldn’t seem to get in, so we just ended up admiring this wonderful church from the surroundings.

By the way, we went to this church again the next day, but the entrance fee was too high and we stopped going in. But now I regret that I was so stingy….
Also, I did a foursquare check-in at the church again, and to my surprise, it turned out to be Mayor.
I was quite happy about this.
