201410 Travel to Malta No.8 – The last part We were stranded in Malta!

201410 Malta

Date of Visit: November 2, 2014 at approximately 6:00 p.m.

Originally, I would have finished this series as a diary in the last issue, since all I had to do now was get on a plane and go home…

Check the schedule again.

This trip was 4 nights and 5 days with 2 paid days and 3 consecutive holidays. Moreover, on the day of departure, I went to Narita directly after working as usual and took a midnight flight.

I had a lot more work to do than I had pay for, and I had already taken a long vacation, so two days off in a row was the limit. It was a trip in such a situation.

Of course, there’s no way I’m going to get into trouble and be late getting back home…

It’s that nightmare again…

I arrived at the airport and everything was going very well from returning the rental car to checking in for the flight…. I had a bad feeling. I wondered if I would get caught up in something again this time.

When I went to Medoc in September, there was a strike and my return was delayed by 4 days.

そんな嫌な予感が見事に的中。搭乗まではよかったのですが、いざ離陸に向けて加速を開始し飛行機がスピードに乗りつつあったその時、なんと急ブレーキで飛行機が停止したのです。

I was wearing a seatbelt, and I felt a certain amount of G’s when the plane took off, so I wasn’t particularly surprised or scared, and it was fortunate that I felt like « Hahaha, did you have some trouble?

We’ll be taken back to the airport for more waiting.

After that, there was an announcement on the plane that there was some trouble and we should wait for a while. I had no choice but to spend a little less than three hours in the plane. In the end, I was sent back to the gate of the airport.

You will be given a card like this and more waiting will follow.

As expected, it was now over 3 hours, so the airline issued a coupon and arranged for us to purchase coffee and sandwiches from the concession stand. Since there was nothing we could do for now, we had to use the coupon and wait for more.

What will be the connection in Dubai?

Now I’m worried about the connection in Dubai. Here’s what the schedule looks like.

Arrival time in Dubai is 1:15AM and departure time of connecting flight is 2:55AM, so we have less than 2 hours. Since the flight was already delayed for more than three hours, it was impossible to return home on the scheduled flight no matter what I thought.

If this happens, I will have to be selfish in Dubai and do something about it.

Got an 8:00 a.m. flight to Haneda in Dubai and returned home safely.

After all, the plane left at 19:00, more than 4 hours late. Naturally, I arrived at Dubai at 5:00 a.m. local time, four hours late, and I couldn’t take the 2:55 flight to Narita.

Of course, it was a trouble of the airline, so I asked them to prepare an alternative flight. However, I found a flight to Haneda at 8 o’clock on the arrival and departure table (electronic bulletin board). I asked them if this flight was available, and they said OK.

The arrival time in Japan is around 23:00, so we can somehow arrive in Japan within three days.

Thus, I was worried about what would happen at one time (or not?). But we took off from Dubai safely and arrived at Haneda within three days.

I was able to get home by Keikyu which was still running.

So this is the end of my Malta trip series. I hope to do many more of these short trips.
