Sare, the second village in the Basque Country, is not so far from Ainoa. It’s not so far from Ainoa, but I went to the border with Spain because I was just passing through. It was only a few minutes by car.
There is still a building like this at the border, but no one is there and it is not checked. This is a picture from the French side.
Road signs near the border.
Now we are again at our destination, Sarre.
This village is not really a tourist spot at all, it’s more like a « luxury residential area » no matter how you look at it. There is no tourist information at all. I had no idea which way to go to the center of the village.
I didn’t see any shops, hotels or restaurants at all. It was just a walk through an upscale residential area, that’s really all.
But it’s still a really great view.
There is another beautiful village in the Basque Country, so we will head there.
