Date of visit: April 18, 2011, around 3:00 p.m.
This is the third village of the day, not far from Le Bec-Hellouin, but we had been there before coming here.
Yes, it’s the famous « Camembert ». But I thought I could eat something, but it was lunch time and all the shops were closed, so I couldn’t do anything (tears).
But after that, we went to « Rivaro », which is about 20 minutes north of Camembert, and bought some cheese. (Well, I’ll write this story in my diary separately.
So after stopping at the so-called « cheese road », we arrived at this village. I don’t know, it’s a bit crowded. First of all, the parking lot is huge! And there are many tourist buses!
I found out why. It seems that this area is a famous tourist route as a « cider road ». That’s why we saw a lot of group tourists. This is the first time since we started our tour of beautiful villages.
There was even a Japanese group there! It’s rare to see Japanese people in the most beautiful village in France, much less in a group. (Although I was surprised to meet a Japanese person in a beautiful village last year, but it was only once.
So they were selling a lot of « ciders »! But I didn’t buy any…
Because I was still at the beginning of my trip and I didn’t know how much my luggage would increase. We’re going to Burgundy and Champagne, so I’m sure we’ll have more luggage… So I didn’t change my mind even if I wanted to. So I didn’t change it even though I wanted to. (But when I came back, I regretted that I could have bought it at all.
The atmosphere of the village is still Normandy-like, perhaps because of the many flowers (flowerbeds), but it has a more glamorous and feminine feel than the villages I’ve visited so far.
It was a very nice village, but there were a lot of people, so I felt uncomfortable. That may be a little disappointing. Nevertheless, we were able to spend a pleasant afternoon in this fine weather.
Now it’s time to decide where we’re going to stay today, and since we still have some time, we’ll pass Caen (close to this village) at once from here and head for the Basse-Normandie region. (To be continued)
