All the way to Alsace and Lorraine to visit the 157th village – 2013 France Real Time Part 17

2013 France real-time

On May 18, we had another long drive ahead of us, this time as long as yesterday.

However, the hotel where we stayed last night, we booked a room with a big double bed for 51 euros, which worked out well, and we slept very comfortably the night before, so we are in good shape.

We traveled for about 8 hours until 16:00 on this day.

Fortunately, the highway conditions were good and the weather was fine, so it was a smooth drive with three stops.

On this day, I visited two villages that I had visited in the past but could not visit in the end. One village in Alsace and one village in Lorraine.

The first place we visited was Hunspach in Alsace. It is a beautiful village about 10km from the German border.

The village has a typical Alsatian atmosphere, but I think the whiteness of the walls of the houses was particularly impressive compared to other beautiful villages in Alsace.

The other is Saint-Quirin in Lorraine, about an hour away from Hunspach, which is also a very different and quiet village.

I was amazed at how magnificent the church was.

And this day we will stay in Metz, the central city of Lorraine.

It’s been a long time since I’ve stayed in a city like this. It might be a bit crowded and uncomfortable.

It’s a hotel, but the building isn’t open, either because I checked in late or because there are no other guests…. A memo was pasted on the side of the building where the door code entry dial was, and I called the phone number on it.

I was given various instructions over the phone (in English) and was able to enter the hotel safely.

Then we moved to the town square and enjoyed Lorraine cuisine. Then we went to bed at 23:00.

Finally, tomorrow is the last day!
