New and missed beautiful villages and World Heritage Saint-Emilion – 2013 France Real Time Part 8

2013 France real-time

The 9th starts in a beautiful village around the city of Fijack.

I had been near Fijack three years ago when I did a tour of beautiful villages, but I couldn’t go to this village because there was only one beautiful village near here and I couldn’t coordinate my schedule well.

However, one of the villages near Fijack, which was not selected as a beautiful village three years ago, was registered, so we decided to visit both of them together.

The first is the newly added Capdenac-le-Haut.

And after that, Cardaillac.

Both were beautiful villages with a medieval look. We were also blessed with good weather.

By the way, I could get the latest edition of the « Map of the most beautiful villages in France » at the information of Capdenac-le-Haut (Capdenac-le-Haut).

Some of the most beautiful villages in France have been replaced in the past few years, so the maps I bought in the past don’t reflect these changes.

Because beautiful villages are naturally small, they are usually not shown on a regular wide area map (because they are too small), so a map that clearly shows them on a wide area map is very valuable and convenient.

The last stop is Tournemire, which is about 1 hour and 30 minutes away from Fijack, one of the villages that I accidentally missed even though I came very close to it 3 years ago.

It was a bit tight in terms of itinerary, but we had to visit here to go back. So we decided to visit there, even though the road was a bit steep.

Unfortunately it was raining in Tournemire, but it created a nice atmosphere. It was very difficult to take a picture, though.

Now, after this, we will drive 280km at a stretch, all the way to near Bordeaux, to Saint-Emilion, which is also recognized as a World Heritage Site. We will stay here this day.

The hotel has a great location, right in the middle of the old town!

But when I arrived, it was raining heavily, and since it was quite cold, the sightseeing of this day was not for the time being.

It was around 8pm, so we went to a restaurant right next to the hotel. The food here and the local wine from Saint Emilion were very good.

Foie gras, duck, and red wine…what a luxury!

By the time we finished eating, the rain had almost stopped. This could be expected tomorrow.

Maybe it was the long drive and the drop in temperature caused by the rain, but I felt a little sick, so I decided to go to bed early.
