Date and Time of Visit: April 28, 2016 at approximately 5:00 p.m.
This village is located in the back of Castile-La Mancha. It was far away but surprisingly the way was not hard.
To Castile-La Mancha again
After visiting Anent, my tenth beautiful village, I went to Valverde de los Arroyos, my second beautiful village of the day. Valverde de los Arroyos is a village in the Castile-La Mancha region.
This village is located in a mountainous area in the middle of Spain, and it takes more than 1 hour and 30 minutes from the nearest highway interchange to get there by ordinary road. So to speak, it is like an isolated island on land.
Although I had a lot of concerns about whether I would get a signal, whether the road would be steep or narrow, the road was actually solid and there were no more ups and downs than I expected, so it was a smooth drive.

Another quiet little village.
And we arrived there around 5pm. It’s a very small village, and we parked our car in a parking lot just outside the village, which looked like a vacant lot. There seemed to be no other cars than those of the local farmers. Of course, I was the only tourist.

From that vacant lot, you can reach the center of the village in about a minute on foot.

The stone houses in very striking shades were very beautiful. The village is quite remote, but we saw some locals.

There seemed to be some kind of tourist resource, a restaurant and a small boutique. However, it is definitely out of season now, so all the shops were closed.

So, we just strolled around the village for sightseeing.
In addition, there was a church in the village as a matter of course.

The door was open, so I went in, but when I came out, a villager approached me and said, « You’re not supposed to go in, but I guess I can’t help it. He got angry at me in Spanish. I’m really sorry… This area might be a bit stricter than France.

Still, this village doesn’t have much information on its official website, so I honestly didn’t know what kind of history it has after all. Still, it seems to have a history from about 1606.

So, that’s it for sightseeing on this day. And that’s it for my solo travel section. After this, I went to Madrid Barajas Airport for about two hours and met my wife. So I stayed near the airport for the night. But of course, I’ll continue to visit beautiful villages from the next day. (To be continued)
