Date of visit: April 29, 2011, around 10:00 a.m.
More to come. This trip’s 40th and 70th most beautiful village in France is this « Sixt-Fer-à-Cheval » in the Haute-Savoie department of the Alpes region.
We didn’t plan to stop there at all at first, but we had enough time because we had finished the first half of Normandy and Brittany earlier than we expected, so we decided to drive to this area near Switzerland at once.
I really didn’t expect that we would end up near Switzerland. By the way, the place is around here! Almost Switzerland already.
It took us a little over an hour to get there from Annecy, where we had stayed the night before. It’s in a mountainous area, but there is a highway running nearby, so we were able to get there quicker and easier than we thought.
The elevation seems to be reasonable. I think it was certainly chillier than where I’ve been.
Is it apparently a ski resort? Such an atmosphere is in the air. But I feel like I’ve seen this scenery before.
The traffic sign and the signboard were very nice.
Because it was off season and it was still morning when we arrived, the village was very quiet.
The next stop is another beautiful village in the Alps.
