Date of visit: April 27, 2011, around 11:00 a.m.
After Châteauneuf, we headed to the beautiful village of Pesmes.
We got off the highway that connects Dijon and Beaune with Besançon in the middle and went north. It is less than an hour away from Dijon. The area is called « Franche-Comté ». We have come a long way east.
Well, my impression when I walked around the village was that it didn’t look like they were putting much effort into tourism. I had a strong impression that it was just a beautiful village where local people live. Even so, there was a tourist information center in the center of the village.
Still, there is a decent amount of fine churches. The scale of this area is fantastic.
I also had the impression that each building was large and magnificent.
I think it is very wonderful to live in the present age in a preserved old-fashioned town. I wish Japan was like this too.
It is true that if you have an impression that sightseeing in Europe is Paris or Rome, you may think that visiting beautiful villages is not enough. But I think that this is Europe and France. I like this kind of trip more.
Next, we will go to the Royal Saltworks of Al-Qué-Sunan, which is just an hour south of here.
