As of February 2, « Nikkei Series App » is dominating the top of « Books » category in App Store.
There are 6 series in total, and all of them are quite simple but deeply understandable. I think they are very good contents for both introductory and reviewing for those who have some knowledge.
Most importantly, the app is awesome and easy to use!
The « card book » format, as the app calls it, is very compact and fast-paced, which is great.

Even though I have a lot of opportunities to come in contact with this kind of topics because of my job, I still have a weakness for macroeconomics. I know a lot of things about macroeconomics, but there are still things I forgot or didn’t understand, so I’m learning a lot.
The content itself is good, but the format is…
However, this app. There are some disappointing and worrisome points in many ways.
To tell the truth, when I look at all of these things one by one, I can’t help but feel the sense of stagnation that is currently hanging over the Japanese economy and Japanese society.

Well, is it because the book is sponsored by Nikkei Newspaper? It’s a little disappointing to introduce newspaper clippings in an iPhone app.

It’s on sale now, so it’s only 85 yen, but I heard that the regular price of this book is 800 yen. It’s very good that the book is compact, but the volume is small. To be honest, I think it’s too expensive even for 85 yen, not to mention 800 yen.

The crispness of the card book is very nice, but when you flip through it, it makes an annoying sound. I don’t mind the sound, but the sound stops the sound of the music. What a useless feature…too bad….
I still feel that sense of entrapment.
Don’t you think that if we had at least a so-called « modern » sense about iPhones, smartphones, and e-books, we wouldn’t have these specifications?
For example, the sound issue. E-book is one of the typical offline apps, right? In addition, music (iPod in the past) is also one of the most famous offline apps.
Reading an e-book while listening to music on the subway is an idea that anyone who has ever used an iPhone has done and should have thought of immediately.
And even though they are having a sale, their pricing and even the content of this magazine has a policy of putting screenshots of the newspaper.
Of course, it has nothing to do with iBooks or iCloud.
Plus pricing.
Even though it’s an $85 sale, I have to wonder about the fixed price. It seems almost like misrepresentation. There was actually a review that pointed this out. It reminded me of outlet malls that have had problems with similar things.
Is it good for the Japanese economy to continue to feel this sense of stagnation?
This month, news of Facebook’s listing has been flying around, and many things have come to light about how well Facebook is doing.
On the other hand, in the past few days, financial results for October-December and the outlook for fiscal 2011 have been announced one after another. While Apple, Softbank, and other companies have achieved record profits, the Japanese manufacturing industry has been struggling mightily.
Is it my imagination that I somehow feel the same smell as this, the same sense of entrapment?
I feel like I’m being taught about economics, but the person teaching me doesn’t understand business…
It was an app that made me think about a lot of things.
ただ、本書の内容はとってもよいと思います。85円を出す価値は大いにあると思いますのでオススメです。音楽聴きながら読めませんけどね（笑）
