There is a lot of information about the Medoc Marathon held on September 13, 2014, but there is not enough information about the tour by travel agencies.

This time I would like to write about the submission of the « Medical Certificate ».

What is a « Medical Certificate »?

Translated into Japanese, it means « health checkup ».

In order to participate in the Medoc Marathon, you have to submit a medical certificate with a doctor’s signature and seal to the race organizers. However, there is no detailed specification of what kind of medical examination is required, so I had to judge for myself.

Documents to be submitted (1): Documents prepared by the tournament

First, you can download the following documents, which will be provided by the event, from the website designated for the event. The information can be emailed immediately after the Medoc Marathon entry is completed.

Here is the specific document. It is a pdf with your name and ID already written on it.

However, this document has only a space to write the signatures of the doctor (bottom) and myself (top). It seems that a separate medical certificate is required. So, at first I thought I could just get a quick signature from a doctor I knew, but I decided to go to the hospital and get a diagnosis just to be sure.

Document No. 2: Medical certificate prepared by the hospital

For now, I decided to take a simple medical checkup at a regular hospital near my workplace, a simple one that takes about 30 minutes.

The outline is as follows.

「金額」

Diagnosis fee and issuance of medical certificate: 4,980 yen

Hospital’s seal and doctor’s signature (in English) on the document issued by the convention: 1,080 yen

Fee for issuing a medical certificate in English: 5,400 yen

「診断から診断書発行までのスケジュール」

Date of examination: April 14

Received medical certificate (in Japanese): April 16

Receipt of medical certificate (in English): April 21

The request for publication of the English version is today, the 16th.

I had to take it near my office this time due to time constraints, but I’m sure there are places that will give me a better price if I look for them.

By the way, I thought it might be good to get the medical certificate in Japanese at first, but I was so anxious that I decided to get the English version as well. It seems that there are some small hospitals that can provide it if you ask.

By the way, the date of diagnosis in the English medical certificate of this hospital was « April 4 », so I matched it. (Actually, it was the 14th, but I have some idea why I made a mistake, but it’s not important and not essential, so I’ll skip it.

The official website said that a medical certificate issued within a year is acceptable. As I’ll explain later, it was officially accepted, so this didn’t seem to be a problem.

Submission method

You can upload your scanned files from the MedCafe website. You can access the upload page from the Medical Certificate page of the official website.

I immediately scanned the issued health certificate at a convenience store, converted it to pdf, and uploaded the scanned file from the above website.

You will receive an email from the tournament to complete the procedure.

The day after I uploaded the file, I received an email from the competition.

ひとまずこれで一安心。メール本文によると8月にスタートナンバー(ゼッケン番号ですかね?)の連絡がくるとのことです。
