On April 29th, Showa Day, I participated in an event called « Bicycle Ride 2012 in TOKYO » under perfect weather conditions.

In a word, it was a « casual cycling in Tokyo » event. Even so, the distance is about 30km, and there are a lot of ups and downs in Tokyo, so it was a hard cycling in this hot weather.
My friend and I left Musashikosugi station at 7:00 a.m. The registration time was from 9:00 a.m., but we arrived at the meeting place « Meiji Park » surprisingly early. We arrived at the meeting place « Meiji Park » surprisingly early, but it was a good time to enjoy the atmosphere of the event.
Pamphlet and bib given at the reception
Our start time was 10:00 a.m. The usual « Sagicharius » members were less than 3 this time. One of them entered with another group.
I was under the impression that the course layout was well thought out. Of course there are some tough hills, but I thought it was still nice and avoided the crowds and hills. There are families here, too. It’s a big deal.
It was quite a course to visit the major sightseeing spots in Tokyo.
And of course to this one, which has just been completed.
There were also two rest stops along the way. The second aid station was sponsored by Starbucks, so it was quite luxurious.
But still, really nice weather!
However, as many as 1,500 people are cycling around Tokyo at the same time, it can sometimes become a traffic jam like this.
It was about 2:00 in the afternoon when I reached the goal. I even got a certificate for finishing the race!
It had been a long time since I had ridden, so I was exhausted by the time I finished.
It was difficult to have a meal near the venue, so we went a little farther and had a late lunch around Mishuku.
とっても素晴らしい一日となりました。やっぱりサイクリングは楽しいね!
