Date of visit: May 16, 2012, around 1:00 p.m.
After O Cebreiro, the last pass of the pilgrimage route, we deviated a little from the regular route and took a fast route to the city of « Lugo » in the northwest direction.
In 2000, the city was declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
There was an underground parking lot near the station (bus terminal?). I parked my car there because there was an underground municipal parking lot near the station (bus terminal?) and went out to the inside of the city wall.
The wall is quite high, and by the way, you can see this scene right in front of the station.
A view of the city within the city walls.
This is just the central square of the city. The buildings themselves around here don’t look so old, but they have a very European and nice atmosphere.
I wonder what this statue is of…it must be related to the Roman era.
And the big cathedral, which is typical of European cities, is still standing.
This church is Santa Maria Church, and the square around it is Santa Maria Square.
I put them inside.
It’s a magnificent cathedral, frescoes, but you can’t get close to it because it’s actually under glass.
Now, this is the city wall of the city, and you can walk on it.
The road is quite wide and moderately long, so there were people who were using it as a normal traffic route, people who were taking a walk, and some people who were jogging. No, I think there were a lot of joggers.
I was thinking of going around in a circle, but I decided not to because it was too hot (laughs). Was it because I came to the west?
But it’s really nice to be in a city surrounded by these historic walls. I want to live in a city like this!
After enjoying the historic city wall, we returned to the parking lot and decided to drive around the city wall.
