Date of visit: May 13, 2013, around 11:00 a.m.
On May 13, we visited Auvillard, our second stop of the day and our 21st stop on this trip.
It was about an hour away from Lavardin. It was a pleasant drive in fine weather, so we arrived in no time.
We parked our car outside the walled old town and started sightseeing.
You enter the village through the gate of this clock tower.
Is there some kind of festival or something? I saw the villagers preparing for something, like raising something like a flag.
Is this Ovillard perhaps one of the bastides? There was a splendid Halle in the central square. It is a symbol of the village.
Well, this village is also a village on the pilgrimage route of Santiago de Compostela. That’s why you can see the markings all over the village.
And there were some people who seemed to be pilgrims. They seemed to be pilgrims on bicycles.
Perhaps it is because it is on the pilgrimage route, but the church seems to be more magnificent than the size of the village.
Will the good weather last the rest of the day? We are heading to the next village.
