After lunch and a short walk in Plaka district, we went to « Panathinaiko Stadium ». This is the last sightseeing tour in Athens.
We arrived at the stadium, passing through the Plaka district and admiring the Temple of Zeus on the way.
Get your tickets and let’s go.
The Panathinaiko Stadium was the site of the first modern Olympic Games in 1896. One hundred years later, at the Athens Olympics in 2004, it was the finish line for the marathon. This is where Mizuki Noguchi took her gold medal!
But this photo is of the male winner, and as a Japanese, I might be a little disappointed (laughs).
You can go inside this truck.
There was a podium.
A simple but beautiful scene.
The drain? The drain is also kind of stylish.
The stadium, which also has a view of Lykavittos Hill, has a capacity of 68,000 people.
However, the track itself is not that big and probably cannot be used in modern competition.
To its large capacity auditorium.
Each staircase was so steep that it was difficult to climb, but the view of Athens from the top of the audience seats was exceptional.
After enjoying the stadium, we walked back to the nearby hotel. After that, we picked up our luggage and went to the airport.
アテネ編はこれで終わり。次回からはサントリーニ編がはじまります。旅はこれから本格化といったところです。(続く)
