Tower of David

Last day in Jerusalem, we still have time. After lunch, we went to the Tower of David. It is located near the Jaffa Gate. There are spires and so on, but in a word, it was like a museum to learn the history of Israel.

I am a student of world history, so I remember the history of this area somewhat. So I was able to understand and enjoy the English explanation. The reason why I came to like traveling in the first place is definitely the influence of the world history I learned in high school. I hardly studied it in high school, but it was the only subject that I took seriously and enjoyed studying. As you can imagine, I’ve forgotten a lot of it, but I still have fragments of that learned knowledge in places.

The beginning of civilization in B.C., the Jewish dynasty, the birth of Christ, the rise of Islam, the Crusades… I think it was quite compact and well organized. It was a good review for me.

By the way, the view of the city of Israel from here is very beautiful.

Walking in the Jewish Quarter

At the end of sightseeing in Jerusalem, I decided to walk around the Jewish Quarter slowly. I really thought to go to the outside of the new city to see the museum, but I gave up because I had little cash left and it was troublesome to negotiate with taxi. I don’t mind because I definitely want to visit Jerusalem again.

As you can see, the atmosphere is quiet and tidy, very much in contrast to the Arabian Quarter. It is a nice European style town. There were some synagogues and Israeli flags were raised.

It is basically a normal town, but there were some sightseeing points. For example, the Rothschild residence. Now it seems to be a school.

In addition, I brought only a single focal length lens for sightseeing on this day. It’s a pancake lens, so it’s very light even for a single-lens reflex camera. It took about one hour while I was taking pictures, and I got tired, so I took a rest at the square of Jewish quarter.

In a cafe with such a beautiful mural.

By the way, alcohol is allowed in the Jewish Quarter!

It was about five o’clock in the evening. Because I walked a lot for three days in hot weather, I was a little tired, so I decided to take a rest in the hotel at night.

いよいよ明日エルサレムを離れ一旦モロッコに戻ります。無事脱出できるかな?(3日目の日記はこれでおわり。翌日に続きます。)
