I went to listen to Shizuoka Philharmonic Orchestra’s « Resurrection » 2011/06/04

I heard Mahler in Shizuoka!

This is a very rare music topic in this blog (laughs)

Last Saturday, I went to a concert by the Shizuoka Philharmonic Orchestra, where several of my friends who I met at the grain orchestra performed.

Actually, I hate Mahler! I can’t stand that melody…. I don’t know why. It’s too long…

So, of course, I rarely (or never?) listen to it at home. at home. But on the contrary, I would like to go and listen to my friend’s music when I have a chance to hear it live. After all, a live performance is very nice, isn’t it?

« Resurrection is really moving because it gets really exciting at the end. The end of « Resurrection » is really good. I cried yesterday too, although I didn’t spill any tears.

Even though I don’t like Mahler, after listening to it a few times, I learn the music and it seems to be more enjoyable and focused than the first time I listened to it. (This is the third time.)

In any case, it’s wonderful that they play such a big piece. Bravo Shizuka Phil!

Thank you very much for inviting me. And thank you for your performance.

Means of transportation is a car.

I’ll change the subject without doing much music criticism, which I’m not very good at.

Well, yesterday I finished refueling and washing my car at a nearby gas station around noon and headed for Shizuoka by Tomei. It took a little time to get through Yokohama, but the rest of the trip was smooth.

This is the most scenic place on the way down the Tomei to Shizuoka, but the weather was not good.

By the way, I was thinking of staying overnight at first, but I decided to take a day trip to think about the next day. It was 2 o’clock in the morning when I arrived at home even if I said it was a day trip. Even so, I sent off a viola player of a certain grain orchestra, but I think that I arrived earlier than I thought.

Another purpose

By the way, I went to Shizuoka this time, of course, because my acquaintance was going to perform and some members of the orchestra were going to listen to it, but there were two more reasons for me personally. It was because

  1. 十数年ぶりに会場の静岡市民文化会館にいってみたかった
  2. 確か高校時代の顧問の先生が所属しているという話を聞いたことがあった

That’s why.

It was just as I had planned. Dr. A is here after all (laughs). It’s been probably 7 or 8 years since I’ve seen him in person, but I didn’t feel like I missed him much. Unfortunately, I couldn’t meet him after the show, so I tweeted him through twitter asking if he could tell his followers that I was there.

The pasta and tiramisu we had at the station building before we left Shizuoka were also very good.

ということで、わずかな滞在でしたが久しぶりの静岡、とても満喫できました。でもちょっと暗い夜中の東名は相当精神的に疲れたかもです…。
