Date of visit: May 15, 2012, around midnight
We entered Castilla y León from La Rioja under the clearest skies of the trip.
We have left Santo Domingo de la Calzada and are driving steadily towards our next tourist destination, Burgos.
You are driving on the national highway, which is a major artery, and right beside it is a « pilgrimage route », where you can occasionally see pilgrims walking.
Because of the good weather, we can see more pilgrims than yesterday, and various signs along the road.
You’ll see this « Camino de Santiago » everywhere.
Basically, it is prohibited to walk on the main road, but it is easy to see where pilgrims walk because there are many signs like this.
In the towns on the pilgrimage route, there are many facilities where pilgrims can rest or, more recently, go online.
I was impressed by the relatively cleanliness of the village at this stopover, so I decided to take a break and park my car for a while too.
Still, there’s a long way to go…
